Captain David "Davey Boy" Crawford is a second generation charter boat captain and has been fishing in Kona Hawaii as well as Lahaina Maui since he was a young man, with his father Captain William "BC" Crawford.  B.C. owns the Chiripa in Kona.  Davey Boy has been in charge of the "Finest Kind" in Lahaina, Maui, "Sea Genie II" in Kona Hawaii and also the commercial fishing boat "Makana" where he was offshore for up to 10 days at a time.
I first met Davey in Lahaina Maui in probably 1987 or 1988.  His dad was neighbors with us.  My brother and I got are start with Davey Boy.  He taught us a lot about fishing in Kona over the years.  When we first moved to the Big Island, we had a small boat in Kona and Davey Boy helped us set it up for fishing.  He showed us what to use, where to go, how to live bait, how to tie a good knot, ect.  The first blue marlin we caught was on a lure that Davey gave us.  Or should I say that he bored off his dads boat.  I don't think his dad new about it.  It took us about 10 trips before we caught are first blue marlin.  I have been fishing with David off and on over the years.  Pictures to the left are us in some tournaments that we placed in.
Capt. "Davey" brought the "Kona Blue" over from Newport Beach California in 2010 and made the crossing in just under 2 weeks. He has outfitted the boat with the finest tackle and equipment, with new state of the art electronics, and will customize your trip to make it the best fishing you have ever experienced.
Capt David Crawford will customize your Kona fishing trip to fit with your vacation or fishing experience. If you are interested in fishing a Billfish Tournament or just spend a few hours on the water catching some dinner for the grill, Capt. Dave will work with you to make your Kona Big Game Fishing trip the best possible.
No fish is to big or too small, and the tackle is new and ready for you when you arrive at the boat. Bring a hat, sunscreen, and your lunch and we will take care of the rest. Professional crew onboard will help the beginners and will filet your catch for your cooler to take home or cook for your dinner.
We encourage the release of all Billfish, unless it is a Trophy Marlin, your catch of a lifetime.
